Evaluation 5.0

What is evaluation 5.0?

We are tired of reports that collect dust on shelves. Building on four generations of evaluation, we want to incorporate new ways of collaborating and communicating into evaluation processes.

  1. We look at evaluations as collective and co-creative exercises
  2. We think the behaviours of evaluators and evaluated critcally influence process and outcomes
  3. We include the whole chain of stakeholders, including donors
  4. We turn the chain upside down: make evaluations serve local organisations so they can improve quality
  5. We think the evaluationprocess has to empower the evaluated: learning takes place in the process
  6. We use images (photographs & videos) as well as text as means for reflection and communication
  7. We choose for constructivist methodologies and build on 4th generation, Most Significant Change and Outcome mapping methods.
  8. Besides face2face meetings and paper, we use internet to support collaboration and information sharing.

What does evaluation 5.0 do?

We organise open-inscription and in-company learning events

We provide coaching and support services on evaluation and monitoring practices to organizations and individuals.

We wrote a paper for the upcoming INTRAC conference on monitoring and evaluation entitled "Fifth generation Evaluation of a HIV/AIDS prevention programme among LGTBIin 15 countries Africa and Latin America". In the paper we describe how we used constructivist evaluation methodologies to facilitate the evaluation of the International Programme of Schorer Foundation, Amsterdam generating a process that produced real learning among all involved.
